xioranny

sometimes it's hard to see
how much i've missed someone
until
they're back IN my life.

tea!

milk and sugar
vs
lemon and honey

tough decision.

after reading this

could you please close your eyes
and see a dawning sky
with as many clouds as you can possibly imagine
all bright PINK

SO beautiful
that i felt it
permeate my being

i would have taken a picture of it this morning,

but i wanted you to experience it for yourself!

i like hugs

the exchange of warmth
of mutual existence
of love
of family
of friendship
of community

being in the presence of someone else
taking on their sadness or joy as my own
feeling needed
feeling safe
feeling supported
feeling.

God of day and God of darkness,
now we stand before the night.
As the shadows stretch and deepen,
come and make our darkness bright.
All creation still is groaning
for the dawning of your might.
When the Sun of peace and justice
fills the earth with radiant light.

Still the nations curse the darkness,
still the rich oppress the poor.
Still the earth is bruised and broken
by the ones who still want more.
Come and wake us from our sleeping,
so our hearts cannot ignore
all your people lost and broken,
all your children at our door.

Show us Christ in one another.
Make us servants strong and true.
Give us all your love of justice,
so we do what you would do.
Let us call all people holy.
Let us pledge our lives anew.
Make us one with all the lowly.
Let us all be one in you.

You shall be the path that guides us;
You the light that in us burns.
Shining deep within all people,
Yours the love that we must learn.
For our hearts shall wander restless
'til they safe to You return.
Finding You in one another,
we shall all Your face discern.

Praise to You in day and darkness;
You our source and You our end.
Praise to You who loves and nurtures us
like a father, mother, friend.
Grant us all a peaceful resting.
Let each mind and body mend.
So we rise refreshed tomorrow,
hearts renewed to kingdom tend.

Images

And when you left, you kissed my lips
You told me you would never, ever forget
These images
Well I'd never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me
Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?

sugar plum spice for breakfast

Know you what it is to be a child?
It is to be something very different from the man of today.
It is to have a spirit yet streaming...
It is to believe in love,
to believe in loveliness,
to believe in belief;
it is to be so little that the elves can reach to whisper in your ear;
it is to turn pumpkins into coaches,
and mice into horses,
lowness into loftiness,
and nothing into everything,
for each child has its fairy godmother in its own soul...

Winken Blinken and Nod

Winken, Blinken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe --
Sailed off on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in the beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Winken,
Blinken,
And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in the beautiful sea --
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish --
Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fisherman three:
Winken,
Blinken,
And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam --
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe
Bringing the fisherman home;
'Twas all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 'twas a dream they'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea --
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
Winken,
Blinken,
And Nod.

Winken and Blinken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoes that sailed the skies
Is the wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fisherman three:
Winken,
Blinken,
And Nod.

the soundtrack for yesterday

i have to admit, yesterday was an EXTREMELY long day/night.
lisa, both you and my mom agree that i procrastinate too much.
and when TWO people are vocal, i sense truth in the air.

anyway, lyrics and melodies constantly running through my head
made the multiple hours surprisingly pleasant.
therefore (as the title implies)
here is the soundtrack for yesterday in the order i heard them:

music on the bus ride:
bright eyes- digital ash in a digital urn

music while writing:
copeland- beneath medicine tree
death cab for cutie- plans, transatlanticism
the postal service- give up
josh ritter- the historical conquests
rhett miller- the believer
sea wolf- get to the river before it runs too low
regina spektor- begin to hope
rilo kiley- the execution of all things

burning a hole.

walking
on shattuck
i encountered
the paper face
of lincoln resting
on the sidewalk.

scan the premises
not a soul in sight
exception: those who zoom by in/on wheels
lincoln now resides in my back pocket

question: who
could benefit
most
by being
the owner that
follows me
as lincoln's carrier

hopefully
i'll pass on
his presence
tomorrow
